Free ringtones for your Iphone

The Iphone is undoubtedly the must have gadget of 2009 its list of features make the non owners out there green with evny. But Apple has tried to tie your ringtone creation down by adding a feature into Itunes to buy ringtones for 99c. Not a bad price I hear you say but if I told you that you could get your own free ringtones, using The Music you have on your own hard drive wouldn’t that be better ??

Creating you own free ringtones couldn’t be easier using Itunes 8

Select a song

Start up Itunes and ring click on the song you want to create your free ringtones from. Click on Options and set the start and end time, remember the maximum ringtone time is 40 seconds

Extract the ringtone to a new file

From the advanced option Select “Create AAC Version” or “Create Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) Lossless Version”. A duplicate version of the song will appear in Itunes (note this will be shorter in time span)

Create the Ringtone

Drag the shorter version of the file to the desktop. Once its copied go back to Itunes and delete it.

Next rename the file on the desktop so it has a m4r extension.

Finally drag the newly named file back to Itunes, when you mouse is over the Library section the release the button

Send the free ringtone to the phone

Under the ringtones section in Itunes you will see the new free ringtone you have created.

Sync your phone and you newly created ring tone will be available to use

Despite the fact Apple have tried to restrict your ringtone creation skills you can easily create your own free ringtones and upload them to your swishy Iphone.
